Rijswijk

Gisteren heb ik bijna de hele dag doorgebracht op de beurs in Rijswijk, wat een paradijsje!!

Deze beurs is heel ruim opgezet zodat je heel goed van een afstand de quilts kunt bekijken (en fotograferen). Ik heb echt bij sommige quilts met open mond staan kijken, zo mooi. De traditionele quilts vind ik mooi maar de artquilts zijn toch meer "mijn ding". Zelf ben ik op dit moment bezig met de traditionele quilts, met af en toe een artuitspatting voor een ATC of een Fibercard, maar als ik later groot ben.......dan wil ik ook artquilts maken!! Vooral de quilts waar allerlei materialen in verwerkt zijn vind ik helemaal super. Het is toch geweldig als je een quilt kunt maken met veertjes erin?

Yesterday I went to the patchwork- and quiltexhibition in Rijswijk, what a paradise!! This exhibition is very spacious, so you can look at the quilts from a nice distance ( and it's easy to make pictures). I stared like a stuck pig, so many beautifull quilts. I like the traditionals but I'm more interested in the artquilts. At this moment I'm doing traditional myself, with some art-dissipation for an ATC or Fibercard, but when I grow up......I want to make artquilts myself!! Especially the quilts with all kinds of material. It's great when you're able to make a quilt with feathers in it?

De naam van de maakster van de bovenste quilt weet ik niet meer, volgens mij was het een duitse dame. De onderste quilt is volgens mij gemaakt door Gonny Bekker, zij stond ook te demonstreren met stofverven met behulp van een bak gelatine en stempelen met zelfgemaakte stempels. O, o weer wat toegevoegd aan mijn wensenlijstje....

The quilt below is made by a dutch quilter named Gonny Bekker, she was demonstrating on the exhibition how to dye fabric with a dish filled with gelatine and self-made stamps. O dear, o dear, another addition to my wishlist....

Natuurlijk ook heel veel winkeltjes waar ik goed geslaagd ben voor stofjes voor de Civil War Diary Quilt. Ik dacht ook mijn slag geslagen te hebben wat betreft de stof voor de sashings maar helaas bleek bij thuiskomst de stof tè wit te zijn, ik had het niet goed ingeschat met al dat lamplicht. Verder heb ik nog noodzakelijk gereedschap aangeschaft, een nieuwe snijmat, twee linialen, een klein snijmes en mesjes voor de snijmessen. Heerlijk, kunnen we weer met volle kracht vooruit!!

There were of course a lot of shops where I bought some nice fabrics for my Civil War Diary Quilt. I also thought I made a hit buying fabric for the sashings but unfortunately I discoverd at home that the fabric was too white, I didn't see it well with all the lamplight. I bought also some new necessary tools, a cutting-mat, two rulers, a small rotery cutter and two blades. Lovely, so now I can go full speed ahead!!
