It took a while before I had some inspiration to make an item for the Colours of Africa, but now the mini-quilt is done. I'm very satisfied with the result because I put into practice what I have learned during a workshop with Annette en Jacqueline in Essen last june. I'll post it tomorrow so it will arrive in good time before the deadline of december 1st. Annette Jeukens, Hella Sluyters, Jacqueline de Jong-van Baalen and Laura Liebenberg are going to use the entries to construct three-dimensional objects which will be auctioned during a textile event in April 2010. This event is to be held in Essen in Belgium. The proceeds will go to the Chris Hani-crèche in the town of Tulbagh in the Cape Province in South Africa. The Town Council of Essen has an affiliation with the Council of Witzenberg (of which Tulbagh is a part). One of the on-going projects is to erect a solid building for the crèche, which is currently housed in a shack. The aim is to develop a proper early learning centre for these pre-school children.
Nu nog even iets opbiechten :) de katten zijn aan de kant gelegd, al die halve en kwart kruisjes was geen ontspanning meer......ben er mee gestopt!
Now something to confess :) I layed the cats aside, all the half and quarter stitches drove me mad.....I quit!
